Cement Fields x The Glass-House Webinar: Young People Making Places

Young people are the future of our places, and an important, vibrant and integral part of our present. We believe they should be empowered to play an active role in shaping where they live, study and play. Join us online on Thursday 20 July to explore the power of young people in shaping places and question how we can make more space for more youth-led design.

This 75 minute webinar will bring together a series of inspirational presentations from diverse projects and organisations working with young people through design and community-led placemaking. We will also be joined by young people from our Ebbsfleet Design Group, who will reflect on their experience of being involved in designing the future garden city and challenge us all to explore how we can work better with young people in placemaking.

Speakers will include:

→ Young people from Ebbsfleet Design Group, part of This Must Be the Place

→ Larry Botchway, Founding Partner of The POoR Collective

→ Anna Francis and Rebecca Davies, Co-Directors of The Portland Inn Project

Sahra Hersi, Artist, spatial designer and educator

→ Huan Rimington, Founding Director of Build Up

Chaired by The Glass-House Community Led Design.

About the organisers

Cement Fields is a visual art organisation working collaboratively with artists and communities to create ambitious new art along the Thames Estuary, from Dartford to Whitstable. This Must Be the Place is our long-term placemaking project in Ebbsfleet, working with young people to explore and shape the new garden city as it is built. The project is supported using public funding by National Lottery through Arts Council England, and by Ebbsfleet Development Corporation.

The Glass-House Community Led Design is a national design charity dedicated to connecting people with the design of their places, and connecting design with people. Part of our work as an educational charity involves innovating and inspiring new thinking and debate through events and knowledge exchange.

This event is co-produced by Cement Fields and The Glass-House Community Led Design as part of This Must Be the Place.
