Young People Making Places

Young people are the future of our places, and an important, vibrant and integral part of our present. We believe they should be empowered to play an active role in shaping where they live, study and play. To explore the power of young people in shaping places and question how we can make more space for more youth-led design, we collaborated with The Glass-House to deliver this conversation.

This 75 minute webinar brought together a series of inspirational presentations from diverse projects and organisations working with young people through design and community-led placemaking. We were also joined by young people from our Ebbsfleet Design Group, who reflected on their experience of being involved in designing the future garden city and challenged us all to explore how we can work better with young people in placemaking.

Our speakers included:

→ Young people from Ebbsfleet Design Group, part of This Must Be the Place

→ Larry Botchway, Founding Partner of The POoR Collective

→ Anna Francis and Rebecca Davies, Co-Directors of The Portland Inn Project

Sahra Hersi, Artist, spatial designer and educator

→ Huan Rimington, Founding Director of Build Up

This event is co-produced by Cement Fields and The Glass-House Community Led Design, and was chaired by the Glass-House Community Led Design.
